Vegetable high in fiber, support your gut and now

FriJuly28CI.jpg IN YOUR DAILY DOSE: today is research that finds a diet high in vegetables may  help you achieve one of your goals.

MAKING CHANGES: Increasing the number of vegetables in your diet does not mean  you need to become a vegetarian, but you may need to change the way you see your  dinner plate.

FACT OR FICTION:  It is a marine creature who can blend with their environment by  doing more than changing color.

In The News

A new study has found that people who switch to a vegetarian diet, without adding carbohydrates from processed foods, lose more weight, improve their metabolism, and reduce more muscle fat than those on a traditional low-calorie diet.

Daily Health Tip

Vegetables are full of indigestible and digestible fiber essential to the health of your intestinal microbiome, your immune system, your brain function and your emotional health.

Making Changes

Dishing out lunch and dinner may mean you change the way in which your plate has looked. In other words, instead of half your plate full of a carbohydrate (like potatoes, pasta or rice) and the rest with meat - you’ll want the majority of your plate full of vegetables with a little meat and no carbohydrates.

Vegetables have enough carbs and fiber to fill you up and keep your engine running. It may take more of a mental change to adjust to a different dinner plate than it does for your body to adjust.

Daily Affirmation

Today, I reflect with gratitude on my relationships with my cousins. They make a positive difference in my life, as I do in theirs.
Self-Reflection Questions:
1. How can I strengthen my relationships with my cousins?
2. What can I do to help my cousins reconcile with distant family members?
3. How can I balance time for my extended family with work and other responsibilities?

Fact or Fiction?

Many animals and insects use mimicry or imitation to defend themselves from predators. However, this sea creature has them all beat. The mimic octopus from the Pacific ocean can impersonate other local species and predators. They can change their skin color, texture and can even take on the shape of objects and animals. At this time this species of octopus is the only marine animal able to mimic such a wide variety of animals.

Have a wonderful day!
