Allergic reactions are a result of your immune system recognizing a protein from the environment as being “bad.” These proteins can be from animal dander, pollen, dust mites or mold. Until now scientists have believed that mast cells from the immune system are the culprits behind the allergic symptoms and that they only produced these symptoms.
But, in recent research from Sweden, the US and Japan, scientists have discovered that these same mast cells have a “good side” as well. They trigger the production of T-regulatory cells which reduce the inflammatory response in the body.
Researchers have known that T-regulatory cells reduce the inflammatory response in the body and have successfully prevented autoimmune diseases in mice. However, these cells are not found in abundance in the body and difficult to realize in the lab.
However, using mast cells, it would be easy to produce these cells in large enough quantities for treatments of allergic reactions.

Many people suffer from allergic type reactions. These symptoms range from the very mild to the very severe. In order to reduce the reactions and symptoms, it’s important to reduce your exposure to the protein molecules which produce the reaction in your body. Until treatments are available which help your body to reduce the inflammatory response, it’s important to reduce your exposure and thus reduce your symptoms.
There are specific lifestyle choices you can make which will improve your quality of life and reduce your dependence on medication, no matter how mild the medication appears to be.
1. If you are allergic to dust mites, it’s important to cover your mattress and pillows. Wash your bedding weekly and get rid of any stuffed animals in your bedroom. You spend at least 8 hours a day in that room, so it should be the cleanest possible.
2. Use normal saline spray in your nose three times a day to wash out the protein molecules which cause the reaction. Spray saline in both nostrils and blow it out.
3. Gargle with salt water at least 2 times a day for the same reason. Protein molecules that get into your body are the ones that cause the symptoms.
