In The News

Researchers from University of Colorado Cancer Center found women who were obese were more likely to get breast cancer. After menopause fat tissue increases production of estrogen, which then promotes tumor growth. But women who are obese have more aggressive tumor growth - even after being given treatment to reduce their estrogen secretion.

The researchers hypothesized that once the estrogen was removed from women who are obese, the tumor’s aggressive nature should decline, but it does not.

Daily Affirmation

I ask questions before I order food to ensure I choose healthy options. I unabashedly ask about fat content, calories, or ingredients.
I remember to make smart choices about garnishes or toppings. I politely request easy, health-conscious changes to my dishes, like leaving off the dressing or croutons.

Fact or Fiction?

You might be surprised to learn the number of different species of spiders that scientists have discovered and the actual number of these little creatures running around your property.

If you don’t like them, they might all look the same. However, scientists believe there could be over 38,000 different species of spiders, with many more yet to be discovered. They are found on every continent, except Antarctica. It is estimated that 1 million of these little darlings live in one acre of land and that humans are never more than 10 feet from a spider - ever!
