In The News

Research released from the Imperial College of London demonstrates that the damage done to your lungs and heart walking outside on high pollution days offsets any advantage to your health from the exercise. This is of particular importance to anyone living in an urban environment, as the pollution in the air was not particular to London streets.

In particular, fine particulate matter pollution from diesel exhaust fumes are highly dangerous to your heart, brain and overall health. The elderly, young and those suffering chronic diseases are particularly at risk. However, exposure over a period of time to this pollution puts you at risk for chronic diseases, such as heart disease and lung disease.

Daily Health Tip

Exercise is vital to your health, but breathing clean air while exercising is also critical. When pollution levels are high, stay indoors and use an exercise bike, treadmill, elliptical or any other machine that raises your heart rate, rather than risk your health to walk or run outside.

Daily Affirmation

Self-Reflection Questions:
1. What can I do to develop a positive work environment without offending my peers?
2. How can I identify the people in my life who try to negate my positive state of mind?
3. Which of my behaviors prevents positive energy from manifesting itself?

Fact or Fiction?

The number of people in this category will double by 2050.

The number of people over 60 will go from 900 million to 20 billion between 2015 and 2050. This means the percentage of people over 60 will rise from 12% to 22% of the total global population. This rise is happening more quickly than it has in the past, meaning services will also have to make drastic changes to accommodate the aging population.

Have a wonderful day!
