Research from Johns Hopkins University demonstrates that when school age children increase their activity it may reduce their healthcare costs as they become adults. The researchers estimate that increasing activity by 25 minutes three times a week for up to 50 percent of school age children may reduce healthcare costs by nearly $22 billion as they grow to adulthood.

Making Changes

Don’t make this a bigger deal than it is. 00 minutes a week can easily be added to your schedule by taking a 15 minute walk every evening and a couple times at lunch. Consider biking with your children, swimming or playing tennis. Sometimes it’s as easy as pulling the children away from the television!
