Trans Fatty Acids and Sugar Are Two Health Challenges You Can Really Avoid

WedOct10CI.jpgIN YOUR DAILY DOSE: you’ll discover researchers find areas of the world that ban trans fat also experience a reduction in a significant health problem.

MAKING CHANGES: It’s simple, but not always easy, to give up trans fats - and we’ll tell you how.

FACT OR FICTION:  The bite is perfectly circular, they live in the ocean and belong to a species which most people fear. They are small in size but fierce. Know what they are?

In The News

Researchers from the University of Chicago Medicine and Yale School of Medicine have found people living in areas that ban trans fat are hospitalized with far fewer heart attacks and strokes.

The results were very impressive considering they compared only foods sold in restaurants that banned trans fat. They compared counties in New York that ban trans fat against those that do not, and noted that a mere three years after restrictions were imposed, the number of people hospitalized with heart attack and stroke dropped significantly.

Daily Health Tip

The results of this study are heartening as it also indicates that changes to your health may be experienced after only three years of changes to your nutritional intake.

Making Changes

Trans fats are man-made fats designed for baked goods to increase shelf time. They can be found in over-the-counter baked goods, margarines, biscuits, breakfast sandwiches, crackers, microwave popcorn, cream filled candies and donuts - to name just a few things.

Remember - the more the food is processed, the more unhealthy it is for your body. Try to shop around the outside of the grocery store where the whole foods are sold.

Daily Affirmation

I pay attention to my gut feelings and listen to my intuition talk.
I avoid allowing fear to paralyze my intuition or be in charge because I maintain control of challenging situations. I acknowledge all of my feelings, and then focus on the wise whisperings of my inner guide.

Fact or Fiction?

There is a small shark, called the Cookie Cutter Shark, whose bite appears to be just like a cookie cutter was placed against the prey.  If the fish is large enough, it may continue to live for a while, until infection sets in to the open wound. These little sharks don’t look anything like the Great White sharks we’ve come to associate with the shark world.

Have a wonderful day!
