In The News

Scientists from the University of California, Los Angeles, discovered that the bacteria in your gut has more to do with your health than you may have already thought. Of course, the bacteria will help to breakdown the food in your intestines, and the more of the good bacteria you have, the more food you breakdown appropriately.

Daily Health Tip

Your intestines are a barrier that prevent bacteria from entering your body and damaging your organs. The good bacteria in your gut also help the cells in your intestines to stay healthy. When the good bacteria in your gut metabolize specific types of nutrients, they secrete a chemical that the cells in the intestines use to replicate and grow stronger.

Making Changes

The nutrient that the good bacteria in your body uses is fiber. Good bacteria feed on fiber and bad bacteria feed on sugar. You can increase the amount of good bacteria, reduce the effects of aging, improve your emotional state and reduce your risk of many illnesses but eating prebiotics each day. Those prebiotics are fiber.

Most recommendations are that you eat approximately 25-27 grams of fiber per day to maintain a healthy gut. You can use organic psyllium husk to supplement your daily diet if you don’t get enough non-soluble fiber in your diet.
