IN MAKING CHANGES today are the simple steps you can take that will give you the added benefits and boost you need to maintain good health.

IN FACT OR FICTION you’ll find out the truth behind the meme circulating about how many people die at the hands of toddlers.

In The News

Scientists from the University of California, Los Angeles, discovered that the bacteria in your gut has more to do with your health than you may have already thought. Of course, the bacteria will help to breakdown the food in your intestines, and the more of the good bacteria you have, the more food you breakdown appropriately.

But, this research also confirms that your gut bacteria also has something to do with delaying age-related diseases.  Dr. David Walker, senior author of the study said,

"Age-onset decline is very tightly linked to changes within the community of gut microbes. With age, the number of bacterial cells increase substantially and the composition of bacterial groups changes.

Daily Health Tip

Your intestines are a barrier that prevent bacteria from entering your body and damaging your organs. The good bacteria in your gut also help the cells in your intestines to stay healthy. When the good bacteria in your gut metabolize specific types of nutrients, they secrete a chemical that the cells in the intestines use to replicate and grow stronger.

Making Changes

The nutrient that the good bacteria in your body uses is fiber. Good bacteria feed on fiber and bad bacteria feed on sugar. You can increase the amount of good bacteria, reduce the effects of aging, improve your emotional state and reduce your risk of many illnesses but eating prebiotics each day. Those prebiotics are fiber.

Most recommendations are that you eat approximately 25-27 grams of fiber per day to maintain a healthy gut. You can use organic psyllium husk to supplement your daily diet if you don’t get enough non-soluble fiber in your diet.

My Daily Affirmation

As with any family, there are still times when the kids have challenges with each other. I teach the kids useful methods to reduce stress and communicate effectively to help resolve their challenges more peacefully.

I find that keeping my own emotions on an even keel helps my family remain calm as well. Counting to ten always helps me to stay calm, even when things are going a bit crazy.

Fact Or Fiction?

Toddlers are dangerous to other toddlers, but what about adults? In a meme circulating in 2015, there was some evidence that toddlers had killed or injured more than foreign terrorists on American soil.

On December 6, 2015 a meme with that slogan appeared on Facebook and quickly went viral. The truth behind the statement is difficult to prove or disprove because it doesn’t fully identify who is considered a foreign terrorist.  However, in 2015 there were 21 people who were shot and killed by toddlers. 13 toddlers inadvertently killed themselves, 18 injured themselves, 10 injured others and 2 killed someone else.

Have a wonderful day!
