In The News

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases issued clinical guidelines to help practitioners guide parents in their quest to reduce the risk of life-threatening allergic reactions.

At present the number of people with peanut allergies is growing, and there is no cure available. While the allergy tends to develop in childhood and persist through adulthood, there is evidence that introducing peanut containing foods during infancy may reduce the probability a peanut allergy will develop.

Those infants at higher risk of developing a peanut allergy may have eczema, asthma or egg allergy. Check with your pediatrician for the guidelines they want you to follow to reduce the risk of peanut allergies in your infant.

Daily Health Tip

Those with a peanut allergy may be allergic to the food or may even have a life-threatening response when there are peanuts in the room.

Making Changes

If your child does develop a peanut allergy, you must be vigilant, and teach them as well, to watch everything they eat and are exposed to. In many cases the allergic reaction gets worse with each subsequent exposure, sometimes becoming life-threatening as the child develops anaphylactic shock.

Daily Affirmation

Career goals are important to me because they signify achievement. Accomplishments in my work life help me to realize a more comfortable future.
When my friends want to hang out, I first ensure that my work responsibilities are covered. Being able to achieve a job promotion is far more fulfilling than a night of partying with my friends.

Fact or Fiction?

When you shop at the grocery store for heavy whipping cream, do you think it’s heavier or lighter than whole milk? Actually the reference to heavy cream is to the density of the product and not the actual weight. When push comes to shove, skim milk weighs more than either heavy cream or whole milk and whole milk weighs more than heavy cream.

Have a wonderful day!
