Researchers have found consumers are becoming more educated about what’s important when purchasing food. More frequently now you are looking for foods that have not used genetically engineered products or GMOs, no growth hormones and more.

Here is what appears to be important - and really is important - when you’re buying food. Manufacturers may tell you products are safe - but they also claimed tobacco was safe and now try to tell you sugar is safe.  Here’s what to watch for:

• Growth hormone use
• Genetically modified organisms
• Humane raising
• Antibiotic use in animals
• Range or cage free environment
• Grass-fed diet
• Certified organic
